RANCH TRAILS

Kimble County Road # 372 runs for over three miles through the 994 acres of Red Creek Nature Ranch.  Approximately two miles of it runs south of the headquarters area and one mile runs northwestward of it.  There are a number of pasture roads and trails that branch off of the county road to provide substantial access to the diverse patterns of nature and life that inhabit this part of the Hill Country.

Several hundred acres that have no roads or trails for easy hiking, which can only be reached by strenuous and careful walking and climbing.  With some planning, most of the ranch can be observed and enjoyed by mixing transport in vehicles with a good hike.  Use of four-wheelers is discouraged because of noise disrupting wildlife and the abundance of cactus causing flats.

Experiencing nature in an intimate manner usually requires considerable effort, time and receptivity.  It can be done riding in a vehicle, but is much more likely to happen while walking and touching the elements.
